Family customs and rituals make the holiday season more meaningful. We love the idea of creating lasting memories by turning the Thanksgiving kids’ table into a canvas with these twig crayons from Chasing Fireflies. Jennifer wishes she had this idea when Parents magazine interviewed her for its December 2000 holiday traditions story. At ages 7 and 3, her kids were all about the art back then. Here’s what she offered Parents instead: “No Christmas Day is complete without some sort of sporting event at my parents’ house. My siblings and I have ten kids between us, ages 3 to 8, and it’s become a tradition to head out to the driveway for a rousing game of street hockey with all of the dads, some of the moms, and most of the kids.” Jennifer’s family has grown since then, making her holiday sporting events all the more fun. The teams are already gearing up for the Thanksgiving driveway games!
